Rafael Logrono teaches private classes in the studio and starting in 2012, he will begin traveling to teach. Skill Level: IntermediateCouture cakes are in! In this 2 day class, students will create a 2-tier wedding cake covered in lace and tailored with a ruffled garter and a brooch. Students will also be introduced to sugar flowers by making a large blooming rose to top their couture creations.
Students will learn:
-how to cover cakes in rolled fondant
-how to properly use pressed lace molds
-how to make a sugar ruffled garter
-how to craft sugar brooches
-how to make sugar roses
Student Supply List:
-12 inch round turntable
-large rolling pin
-mat for rolling fondant
-pasta machine, hand cranking
-2 fondant smoothers
-pizza cutter
-small brush
-12 inch ruler
-small celpad
-ball tool
Each student will leave with a display wedding cake and handouts, along with several techniques on achieving cake designs with clean, couture finishes. Students also leave class with a pressed lace mold, brooch mold and roses cutters.
